Melia was born and raised in Montgomery County and attended Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. After high school, she attended the University of Maryland College Park, graduating in 2018 and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, graduating in 2020 as part of the 3+3 dual degree program. 

While in law school, she spent a year as a student-attorney in the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic. Melia joined McCarthy Wilson as an Associate in October 2021 after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Jennifer B. Schiffer of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Maryland.  Following the completion of  her clerkship, Melia joined McCarthy Wilson in October 2021.
